A Centralized Web-Enabled Multimodal Biometric Database
Overview Biometrics, described as the science of identifying an individual based on one or more physiological or behavioral traits, is a very broad field encompassing the areas of computer science, electrical engineering, forensics, and statistics, amongst others. It is a rapidly growing field offering plenty of opportunities for interdisciplinary research in these areas. However, biometric researchers do not have access to an organized biometric database that can be easily incorporated in their study nor do they have an established protocol that would aid them in collecting data. An appreciable amount of time is therefore lost in acquiring biometric data, which in most cases is done in a haphazard manner catering to the immediate need of the research being conducted.
