Naming Conventions for Digital Resources

Overview Naming documents are a crucial aspect of design, because it involves the syntax of a name by which a document is referenced. A name is a logical way of referring to an object in some abstract name space. Standards are being developed in the IETF for naming conventions, called the Uniform Resource Name (URN). This paper contains a general summary of developments concerning naming conventions for digital resources.
