Overview Recent years have witnessed a remarkable, if not breath-taking, revolution in the area of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), particularly in the utilization of the Internet for transporting and sharing information worldwide. Although the Internet has been in place for over twenty years, it is only in the past few years that its presence has been strongly established. In fact, the recent revolution in information technology may be traced back to mid-1993 when NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications), within the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign campus, released the first version of NCSA Mosaic.
