Cataloging White Papers

PSU Cataloging Services Discussion Paper

Overview The purpose of this paper is to summarize current national developments regarding the cataloging of remote networked resources, or 'Web sites', as they are found on the Internet. A special working group in Cataloging Services has been called together to develop guidelines for cataloging Web sites, and a central component of its work will be to coordinate these guidelines with emerging national standards. This paper will lay the groundwork for the next phase of the group's work, which will focus on preparing formal departmental guidelines and policy for cataloging networked resources using MARC and AACR2.
