Millimetric UWB OFDM PHY Layer Designs for VHDR WPANs and Performance Analysis (IST Magnet Project)

Overview This paper presents a new UltraWideBand concept designated as the "millimetric UWB OFDM system" where the UltraWideBand communication is defined at 60 GHz to draw benefit from the small wavelength. Original UWB-OFDM and WB-OFDM parameter sets are defined in connection with an enhanced spectrum efficiency close to the sub-carrier spacing. These transmission modes are evaluated thanks to a BER performance analysis and a budget link set-up that conduct us to select UWB-OFDM transmission modes to achieve Very High Data Rates ranged from 200 to 470 Mbps for WPANs.
