Building Supply-Chain Business Agility From Within: The HP/Compaq Merger
Overview HP's Information Technology organization (HP-IT), chartered with providing IT-related services and business functionality throughout the enterprise, was given the mandate to consolidate IT operations for the two industry powerhouses. They faced the massive, highly visible integration of two complex IT infrastructures within aggressive deadline, with an explicit need to avoid traditionally expensive, lengthy and risk-ridden integration activities. HP-IT implemented the Integration Hub project with a Real Time Data Store that integrated 172 multi-version enterprise resource planning (ERP) database instances. A comprehensive set of adapters facilitates communication between traditionally isolated applications, eliminating the need for custom-written interfaces.
