German Operator Deploys MDMS as 3G Enabler

Overview In Germany, a mobile operator has already found the answer in Marconi's MDMS (Marconi Digital Multipoint System) solution. Part of the Marconi range of fixed wireless access systems; MDMS provides the highest capacity per bandwidth for transparent 2 Mbit/s connections to carry the traffic not only from 3G Node Bs but also from GSM Base Stations to the fixed network. Marconi's MDMS system needs no dedicated licence for each individual link and uses fewer - and smarter planar antennae. It is fully compliant with UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) - a major new 3G mobile communications standard that is being adopted by many of the world's major telecoms operators.
