Switches Enable School District to Transition From T1 to Fiber Network
Overview Bethel School District is in the process of upgrading its network from a leased-line T1 environment to a fiber MAN with VoIP capability. Allied Telesyn proposed a switch solution that could be implemented in preparation for the upgrade. The solution will offer immediate relief to the district's network strain and most importantly, will allow it to easily make the transition to fiber. The growth in number of students over the last several years was beginning to strain Bethel's network. Looking forward, the district knew it needed more bandwidth to meet increased user demand as well as to be able to deploy new services such as streaming video, Voice over IP (VoIP) and centralized server backups.
