Overview The Wireless Research team was tasked to develop a 3G channel decoder chip using both turbo and convolutional codes for voice and data services targeted at handset and infrastructure applications. Bell Laboratories is the research and development arm of Lucent Technologies, a world-renowned telecommunications technology company. Its wireless research facility in Sydney is the only one of its kind in Australia. As time-to-market was of utmost importance to the team during the design phase, the Cadence engineering team was committed to helping Bell Labs set up their environment and receive the necessary training.
