Overview There are many advantages to Internet Protocol version 6 over version 4. IPv6's scalability and similarity to IPv4 make it the ideal choice for next-generation mobile communication networks. The benefits of enhanced global host-to-host communications will greatly benefit academic and research computing. There are few compelling reasons for enterprises to move to IPv6 today, and one will see a slow adoption rate in global enterprises especially in North America. Once the need for true mobile computing becomes a requirement for global enterprises, IPv6 will emerge as a "killer application" and cause a mass migration.
