Overview The Registry-Registrar Model and Protocol describe the operational structure used for registry-registrar interaction and the communications language used between them. The structure and language are important because they define and constrain the features and functions available to both registries and registrars. A poor model or a poor protocol can place needless restrictions on the features available to Internet users and the business models available to registries and registrars. Additionally, the various models and protocols have privacy implications for the holders of domain names.
