Overview This paper covers the techniques for backing up and restoring an Oracle10g for Asianux1.0 database when a Network Appliance filer is used for database storage. Specifically, this report covers the following issues: backing up a database while the database is shut down ("cold" local/remote backup), backing up a database while the database is running ("hot" local/remote backup), recovering a database that failed while running in noarchivelog mode and recovering a database that failed while running archivelog mode.
