UML 2.0: Incremental Improvements for Scalability and Architecture

Overview The UML 2.0 has its basis firmly set upon UML 1.x. Almost without exception, UML 1.x models are valid in UML 2.0. However, UML 2.0 has a number of significant, if incremental, improvements for architectural modeling - such as structured classes, elaborated interfaces and ports, scalability - such as structured classes, interaction fragments and operators, and improvement in the modeling of behavior over time - such as timing diagrams. However, you don't have to worry about these new features if you don't want to - you can still build significantly complex systems using only 3 diagrams - class, sequence and state diagrams.
