Functional Modeling With UML: Bridging the Gap Between OO and Functional Methods
Overview Functional methods have existed for several decades and have always provided a powerful approach to decomposing large systems into more manageable pieces. Traditionally the world of objects has not had a systems focus, and even the latest version of UML (2.0) still lacks in this regard. UML 2.0 itself is not the final answer to bridging the gap from systems to software, but there are initiatives such as the SysML (Systems Modeling Language), that are emerging to bring them closer together.
