Cisco Helps Fortis Health Make Wireless Its Mainstream Communications System
Overview Fortis Health is the leading developer and provider of individual medical, small group, and specialty health insurance products in the United States. Fortis Health had an extensive local-area network (LAN) connecting its downtown facilities, and the company had planned to upgrade to an Ethernet-based communications structure for which the headquarters buildings were extensively wired. Fortis decided to implement the Cisco Aironet 350 Series technology for its wireless communications system. The Fortis LAN features Cisco Catalyst 4006 switches in the access closets; Cisco PIX firewalls; Cisco 7200 Series core routers; and Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches in the core, distribution, and server farm layer.
