Microfluidics Fundamentals

Overview This webcast will provide an overview of current microfluidic systems including representative devices, capabilities, operation modes, as well as detectors and detection techniques. Microfluidic based capillary gel-electrophoresis will be compared with conventional gel-electrophoresis techniques for the analysis of RNA, DNA, and protein containing samples. The seminar will also compare novel applications of microfluidics, for example, the detection of multiple organisms or traits within an organism via multiplex PCR amplification and subsequent size separation of the resulting PCR products. This last technique will be compared to similar analysis conducted via real-time PCR.
