Syndicating and Personalizing Content Using RSS

Overview RSS is a simple XML format for syndicating headlines and content across the web. It can be thought of as a spam-free alternative to email alerts, but is much more versatile than this simple view would suggest. In particular, it provides a powerful means to aggregate and filter news from around the web and hence to create customised news feeds and web pages. This paper describes, Urchin, an open-source software framework developed by Nature Publishing Group (NPG) that provides just such functionality.
