Model-Driven Development and UML 2.0

Overview Not surprisingly, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is intended as the language to be used for model-driven development. The language was first standardized in 1997 as the end of the methods wars, and it quickly grew to become the most popular modeling language around for "visualizing, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of a software-intensive system." The new capabilities for modeling the architecture of systems that are introduced in the language are among the most important ones, and make it that much easier to build real-life systems of arbitrary complexity.
