Profiles in High Availability: Production Deployments Using Oracle HA Best Practices
Overview This paper began by stating that while every business needs to plan for the worst, it won't be the hurricane, bolt of lightning, or other act of nature that will wreak havoc with your database system. There was the East Coast manufacturing company with the bad HBA. First American had the CPU failure. Oracle fell victim to logical corruption caused by human error. Ohio Savings Bank had server OS issues, and occasional database restarts for maintenance or tuning. Users previously had to go to great lengths in legacy application environments built upon the Oracle Database to integrate and support a collection of 3rd party software and hardware components to achieve a highly available and disaster resilient computing environment.
