New Sun Fire Servers Nearly Double Supply Chain Management Performance

Overview Sun and Manugistics engineering teams have improved the performance of the Manugistics NetWORKS Fulfillment application. The Fulfillment application was tuned along with the JVM, Solaris Operating System scheduler, and Oracle on a single Sun Fire server. Fulfillment was also scaled to multiple servers and new hardware. Sun Fire Servers with the new UltraSPARC IV processor, achieve nearly double (1.92x) the throughput of Sun Fire Servers with the UltraSPARC III processor. The 10 Million SKU model was used to compare runs across servers. Both single server and multi-server tests were run. Additionally, a 20 Million SKU model benchmark was run to show scale up using two Sun Fire 6800 servers.
