Athens International Airport (AIA) Boosts Productivity
Overview Athens International Airport is Greece's brand new state-of-the-art facility that was under construction for 51 months and opened to the public on March 28, 2001. While the Athens Airport was under construction, the airport manager researched and investigated the various operational systems that would need to be implemented. AIA selected Oracle as its preferred vendor to meet its demands of availability, speed, and reliability. Everything, front-to-back, including the database and the applications, from the Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS) used for passenger information and the Universal Flight Information System (UFIS) used by the airport operator for operational purposes, to the Oracle Financials and Inventory applications and the billing system, is based on an Oracle platform.
