Thin Clients White Papers
Thin Client Solves Weighty Student Record Problem in California
Overview California School Information Services (CSIS) was created with a mandate to help local education agencies (LEAs) develop and maintain effective and efficient pupil information and reporting systems. The challenge was to build a flexible information and reporting system able to share information readily throughout the state, without forcing all Local Education Authorities (LEAs) into the same mold. Sierra Systems proposed an innovative thin client architecture. Java applets, servlets and Java Server Pages provided Client functions. XML tags were used for Data handling, while security and user authentication are managed with digital certificates.
