Increasing DB2 Database Utility With VERITAS FlashSnap
Overview The VERITAS Storage Foundation includes several techniques for making point-in-time snapshots of sets of related data objects. The simplest of these is a split mirror of a VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) virtual volume, sometimes called a third mirror break-off snapshot. This paper illustrates the use of the DB2 db2inidb tool to create DB2 clone databases for off-host processing and online mirror databases for rapid recovery from corruption, and shows how VERITAS Database FlashSnap integrates with db2inidb and other DB2 facilities to simplify its use with VERITAS Storage Foundation VxVM split mirror snapshots.
