Wyse Technology Case Study: Glynwed Metal Services
Overview Glynwed Metal Services (GMS) is one of the three divisions of Glynwed International PLC. As a large presence in the multi-metals distribution market, GMS needed to upgrade its IT system to keep up with its growing business. The challenge was finding a cost-effective solution capable of delivering enterprise applications and data to desktops across the United Kingdom. The Winterm network was connected to Sun Enterprise 5000 servers at the company's computer center in Southampton. The Winterm solution enabled GMS to deploy its sales order processing application, as well as Microsoft Office software, throughout its sales locations. Best of all, the solution meets GMS's desire to maintain an effective information system with a low total cost of ownership.
