Application Servers White Papers

Gearing Up a Rural School

Overview High school biology students get their hands dirty collecting information about native plants and animals in a remote corner of New Mexico. The rural school's server-centric computing system with Wyse Winterm thin clients gets students excited about learning and inspires teachers to create new lessons. Frustration ruled at the K-12 school when the system consisted of a 66MHz server and 8-year-old computers. The school contracted with Remex Corporation, of Kentwood, MI, a Wyse Authorized Reseller, to upgrade the campus network, install thin-client servers, and set up Wyse Winterm thin clients throughout all seven buildings on the 160-acre campus. Every classroom has at least one Wyse Winterm terminal with 25 more found in each of the two computer labs. They all connect to centralized application servers.
