IBM Case Study: Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)

Overview The Defense Information Systems Agency is a combat support agency. With the recent developments in the world surrounding terrorists and terrorism, it is extremely important that DISA explores new technologies that will enable the different branches of the government to remain superior to the world enemies. IBM invested technology and Web services expertise in the Homeland Security Command and Control Advance Concept Technology Demonstration in December 2002. The benefits were clear expression of IBM's commitment to Homeland Security, demonstration of how IBM technology can support HLS needs, send information to interested/required parties using interoperable collaboration tools (DCTS and IBM Sametime), with e-mail backup, dynamically identify and assemble response teams and link DoD Command and Control centers to State and Local Agencies.
