On Alert With Mobile IP at the Coast Guard

Overview Cisco Systems collaborated with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to invent the Cisco 3200 Mobile Access Router, a miniaturized router suitable for use in mobile deployments, particularly for military, Homeland Security, law enforcement, and emergency response agencies. Central to the router is its use of Mobile IP technologies to enable transparent, seamless roaming across multiple public and private wireless IP networks. The successful demonstration tested end-user wireless devices and applications, proving the viability and interoperability of Cisco Mobile IP software, the Cisco 3200 Mobile Access Router, and the complementary Western DataComm IPE-2M encryptor for use in military and public safety deployments.
