SAFECOM: Communications for a Secure Homeland

Overview In the field of public safety, communication interoperability is the ability of government agencies to talk across disciplines and jurisdictions via wireless radio communications systems - to exchange voice, data, and video with one another on demand, in real time, as authorized. SAFECOM is the first national program designed for public safety by public safety. As a program driven by public safety practitioners, it works with existing federal communications programs and key public safety stakeholders, ensuring the efficient spending of taxpayer dollars. Guided by Touchstone expertise, SAFECOM within a few months of developing this strategy had scored several early hits.
