Social Software: Towards 'A Semantic Federated Model'

Overview Blogs, wikis and FOAF are examples of bottom-up solutions to generic knowledge management problems. The evolution of this into semantic and federated models based on RDF is bootstrapping the Semantic Web. Though it is still unclear how this will evolve, there is clearly a big potential for a wide range of new networked applications combining facts, news and opinions and people, all interconnected, both for the Web and its mobile counterpart. And as the FOAF and Blog communities are exploring these new federated technologies abuse, trust, security, the lightweight on-demand integration scheme offered from Semantic Web technologies will get widespread use in the area of social software.
