Nordstrom: Inventory Management Transformation

Overview Nordstrom is one of America's leading fashion retailers. One of the chief issues was that Nordstrom's merchants did not have visibility to track inventory position by location. Management lacked the tools to support inventory movement and pipeline management. As a result, the retailer suffered inventory productivity and markdown issues. Accenture collaborated with Nordstrom on one of the company's top strategic initiatives - perpetual inventory. This involves developing tools and processes necessary to provide a perpetual inventory at a unit or stock-keeping unit level. With these new tools and processes, merchants are able to make much better, more fact-based assortment and inventory management decisions.
