Accenture Case Study: Sears Canada

Overview Sears Canada is a leading player in the Canadian retail industry. Sears Canada knew that a major U.S. retailer was preparing a major expansion into Canada and they wanted to ensure that their cost structure would allow them to compete and win in their changing retail environment. Challenges facing Sears Canada included low profitability, high personnel costs and complex processes. Accenture worked with Sears Canada to ensure mandatory adoption of Electronic Data Interchange by suppliers to achieve electronic order placement, advice of shipment by suppliers and receipt by the company through the use of supplier-prepared merchandise bar coding.
