Idtechex Case Study: Massachusetts General Hospital Blood, USA
Overview A pilot study of RFID has been carried out in Massachusetts General Hospital, the client, using a Precision Dynamics Product with the support of Lattice Corp. A bedside ID check is made and checks are envisaged in the operating room. It is pointed out that there was a need for large volumes of blood under urgent conditions, the patient is asleep, the healthcare team does not know the patient and distraction is common. In other words, frequent automated ID checks would be particularly useful. The benefits of RFID tag on the blood container include monitoring temperature, location code, tracking and inventory management.
