The Impact of Sarbanes-Oxley on Split-Dollar Life Insurance

Overview Many companies are reviewing the impact of the recently enacted Sarbanes-Oxley Act on executive loan arrangements. This paper has a more specific focus in that it reviews the act's provisions for its potential impact on split-dollar life insurance. Because Sarbanes Oxley does not directly address split-dollar life insurance in its corporate loan provisions, there is substantial confusion as to whether it was intended to cover such arrangements.
