Overview This white paper focuses primarily on the traffic management/load balancing component (F5 Networks' BIG-IP product) required in building a smart, streamlined, scaleable SIP-based infrastructure - a "future proof" network that could be used to deliver Microsoft Messenger termination services as well as many other enhanced applications. Deploying a SIP-based infrastructure using F5's BIG-IP product, along with smart routing engines; security components including edge proxy, firewall control proxy and media-enabled firewalls, helps ensure a truly extensible network - one that can be easily extended to support new revenue-ready solutions such as conferencing, unified messaging and calling card services.
