Implications of Virtualization for Image Deployment
Overview The concept of software image deployment was initially developed to facilitate the distribution and installation of images on physical servers, while taking into consideration variations in server hardware and software configurations. Virtualization holds considerable implications for organizations currently using conventional deployment processes because virtualization can enable image deployment regardless of the hardware variations of the target servers. This paper provides an overview of conventional image deployment processes and discusses how virtualization concepts and benefits can enhance image deployment in today's data center.
