HP manages DreamWorks printing

Overview DreamWorks needed to lower the cost of their printing infrastructure. The equivalent of two new printers was spent in repair costs every month to keep 267 antiquated printers operational. Improved device utilization, from a ratio of four people to one printer, was required. An increase in printer performance and functionality was required owing to steadily increasing complaints about legacy printers. A flexible printer infrastructure was also needed to meet changing business needs. HP identified the optimal printer infrastructure through analysis of the overall print usage. 165 new HP LaserJet printers were deployed and a pre-agreed cost per page for printing was put in place. This resulted in an 11% cost reduction per printed page and device utilization is now seven people to one printer. All the new printers were implemented in under four weeks.
