Exempla Healthcare Builds Medical Practice on Cisco Foundation Network

Overview Exempla Healthcare is a nonprofit community-based organization sponsored by Lutheran Medical Center (LMC) Community Foundation and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System. When Saint Joseph Hospital and LMC were joined under the umbrella of Exempla Healthcare, both hospitals were running LANs that had been expanded over time using products from multiple vendors. These networks lacked the performance, stability, and reliability that Exempla needed to provide premier healthcare services. The core of the Exempla network consists of Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches at Saint Joseph and LMC, connected by an OC3 fiber optic ring. Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches provide high-speed, scalable, multilayer Ethernet switching.
