Border Security Systems: The Hungarian Case Study

Overview The Hungarian Republic is making significant efforts in trying to comply with European Union requirements. An efficient security policy that ensures the reliable surveillance of the borders, as well as the provision of the necessary access, is extremely important for Hungary, the "Visegrad region", and the EU. Over the past ten years, Hungary has re-organized the structure of its Border Guard, changing it from a military organization with staff that is enrolled, into a police organization with solely professional staff. Hungary plans to operate future external and internal borders pursuant to the Schengen and Amsterdam requirements.
