OGSI-Based System Management: Manageability Services for Linux
Overview The Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) provides a means of integrating systems, services, and other resources in heterogeneous, highly distributed environments. The foundation of autonomic management includes two basic elements: sensors and effectors. Sensors and effectors are basic components for autonomic management. Sensors are monitors that collect management data, and effectors are control knobs that are used to change resource configuration, behavior, or allocation. This paper illustrates how to build manageability services with sensors and effectors.
