High Performance Computing White Papers

Perspectives on Grid Computing

Overview Grid computing has emerged as a dominant, pervasive metaphor in the past decade. Today it is virtually impossible to discuss high performance or scientific computing of any sort without reference to grid technologies. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the various schools of thought related to grid computing, to describe the state of the art, and to provide some opinions on the useful contributions in this space that might be made by a small to mid-sized academic lab.
