Handelsbanken Uses WAP With IMS for Internet Banking

Overview Handelsbanken, one of the largest Nordic banks, has extended its existing Internet banking service beyond the PC to a variety of mobile devices. Handelsbanken offered their customers a unique opportunity to use wireless banking services. For Handelsbanken, this new WAP-based service is only one part of the bank's overall customer service strategy: a broad range of banking services to enable customers to conduct banking business when, where, and how it best suits them. IBM provided the application development tools and specialized software to translate the information from the bank's back-end system into a highly condensed form that can be sent to a mobile phone.
