Sun Helps DLR Efficiently Manage Satellite Image Archive With Sun StorEdge Solution

Overview DFD is a division of the German Aerospace Center - Deutsches Zentrum fur Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). The challenge was to maintain highly available and scalable archive of satellite images and ensure that the archive is easy to manage and cost-effective. A Sun StorEdge T3 enterprise array and a Sun StorEdge A5200 system serve as the disk cache for the archive. Sun StorEdge Utilization Suite with SAM-FS software helps DLR make large satellite images instantly accessible to researchers for mission-critical analyses of Earth's surface and environment. DLR purchased its SAM-FS software through Sun iForce partner Synstar International-a premier provider of storage and availability solutions throughout Europe.
