Phoenix Core Managed Environment - Grid Computing: Building the Foundation With Phoenix cME
Overview Phoenix Core Managed Environment (cME) is a standards-based set of enabling technologies and applications built into the foundation of PCs, servers, and other digital devices. Independent of the operating system (OS), Phoenix cME technology enables manufacturers to deliver products with core system management capabilities that are always available and always secure. For PCs and servers, Phoenix cME capabilities reside within both the firmware (BIOS) and in a secure, protected area of a hard drive. This host protected area (HPA) is created according to the Protected Area Run Time Interface Extension Services (PARTIES) specification set by the T13 Technical Committee. With the cME architecture in place, BIOS software delivers grid-enhanced capabilities to the device, and the HPA provides a protected environment for customized grid-enabling applications.
