Leveraging Storage Management Frameworks

Overview Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) for Windows Server 2003 is a storage management framework designed to simplify storage management and improve application interoperability. However, there are critical limitations to VSS that can compromise data protection in a heterogeneous computing environment. To ensure a complete volume snapshot solution for backup and recovery applications, IT professionals must look to software that can build on VSS to support multiple operating systems, all types of backup and business applications, and ensure data integrity.
