Significant Cost Savings Through LAN and SAN Consolidation

Overview A mid-size enterprise needed to consolidate LAN and SAN bandwidth requirements, while leveraging a single network connection to reduce networking costs, and maintain application performance through physical traffic isolation. CIENA's CN 2000 platform provided connectivity of both LAN and SAN traffic across a single SONET OC-3 link, lowering the cost of monthly connectivity. The CN 2000 platform also improved the performance and visibility of advanced BC applications over distance. By leveraging the capabilities of the CN 2000, this enterprise accommodated both LAN and SAN traffic on the same OC-3 connection, lowering the cost/bit of transport.
