Sydney Adventist Hospital Delivers Secure Remote Access to Doctors With Nortel Networks Alteon SSL VPN

Overview In a strategic move to enhance patient care by better serving the community of doctors and specialists who use its facilities, Sydney Adventist Hospital decided to implement technology that would provide its accredited doctors. It was obvious a VPN was required to provide the secure remote access. Adventist chose SSL and the application-to-application security, encryption and authentication provided by Nortel Networks Alteon SSL VPN solution. The hospital's communications system is based on a Nortel Networks Meridian 1 PBX, its data network is powered by Nortel Networks Passport 8600 Gigabit Ethernet Routing Switch, and a Contivity VPN switch provides Internet connectivity, IPsec tunnelling, firewall protection, authentication, and encryption to internal users.
