SONET/SDH Ring Extension
Overview Netstender, the photonic layer platform from BTI Photonic Systems, provides cost-effective, low-power extension of SONET/SDH rings. Netstender's compact, modular architecture delivers amplification and signal conditioning for SONET/SDH rings for up to 50% less the cost, and 75% less the space and power of ADM regeneration. To capture additional new service revenue, network operators need to extend SONET/SDH rings to reach new customer sites. Evolving service demand also results in elimination of nodes no longer required. But equipment specification on legacy and new SONET/SDH terminal systems can limit the reach of ring spans.
