United Bulgarian Bank Sees IBM eServer pSeries as Money in the Bank
Overview United Bulgarian Bank (UBB) was created in 1992. UBB's challenge was to provide a full banking service totally reliably, 24 hours a day, from main branches in city-centres to the smallest village, and improve security. Finally, UBB needed a solution that could manage very heavy peak processing loads without creating unsustainable costs. UBB has replaced multiple, disparate IT systems with a single, centralized infrastructure based on IBM eServer pSeries servers. Storage is managed by IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server (ESS), with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and IBM FlashCopy. Using FlashCopy allows UBB to run 24 hours a day and have near-complete data security.
