The Value, Effectiveness, Efficiency, and Security of IT Controls: An Empirical Analysis
Overview Information technology managers are confronted with a myriad of best-practice frameworks for information technology service management. These frameworks include the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and the Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT). Advocates of these frameworks promote the value of these guidelines in achieving cost reductions and improving business processes. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between best-practice IT controls and IT efficiency, IT effectiveness, IT security, and business value.
