Reducing Peak-to-Average Ratios Using OFDM Necklaces

Overview OFDM signaling is used in many modern communications systems (e.g. digital subscriber lines, digital audio broadcast (DAB) and digital video broadcast (DVB), hiperlan-II). In communications systems using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the Fourier transform of the data sequence is transmitted which leads to high peak-to-average power ratios creating implementational difficulties. This paper introduces and examines an efficient enumerative coding method specifically designed to constrain the peak output value of OFDM signaling.

Mutual Interference in OFDM-Based Spectrum Pooling Systems

Public mobile radio spectrum has become a scarce resource while wide spectral ranges are only rarely used. Here, a new strategy called spectrum pooling is considered. It aims at enabling...

Design and Simulation of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Signaling

A MATLAB program has been written to investigate Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems. This program is valuable for future researchers simulating systems that are too theoretically complex to...

V.92 The Next Generation Modem Technology

The paper discusses the features and benefits of V.92. As with any new standard, multi-vendor interoperability is critical to help accelerate deployment of standards-based equipment. Lucent’s V.92 solution inter-operates with...

Effect of Rounding and Saturation in Fixed-Point DSP Implementation of IFFT and FFT for OFDM Applications

This paper describes a new technique for designing FFTs for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM) transmitters and receivers. Using the new technique, signals within the FFT structure are scaled so...

Optimum Noise Thresholds in Decision Directed Impulse Noise Mitigation for OFDM

Impulse noise is a significant problem in some OFDM applications including digital television broadcasting. This paper studies the optimum threshold values for a novel decision directed impulse noise mitigation algorithm....
